Ossain

Ossain is the son of Nanã and Oxalá.

He is the Orixá of sacred and miraculous plants.

The only one among all the Orixás to know all the secrets of all herbs and plants, and who knows how to use them to cure diseases.

Each Orixá has its sacred plant, but only Ossain knows the use, the power and the secrets of them all. Therefore, the other Orixás need it as much as we humans.

Due to his exclusive and absolute knowledge of the power of plants, his presence is required and is indispensable for any ritual in Candomblé.

He is the one who gets attached to good health.

He is also relied on for economic wealth and prosperous life.

Its symbol is an iron rod with seven points; at the central end there is a sparrow.

Not much can be said about Ossain, since he is protected by Awo, the secret.
