Oxumare
This orixá embodies the opposites: the beginning and the end, the state transition in matter, the masculine and feminine that are in everyone.
His symbols are the snake and the rainbow.
According to the myth, Oxumare is the son of Nanã and Ifa.
He is particularly handsome and is said to have seduced Oxum while she was in a relationship with Xango, whose vengeful nature is notorious.
Xango fought with Oxumare, reducing him close to death, and spared his life by ordering him to go live in the heavens.
When Oxumare wants to return to Earth, he takes on the characteristics of a snake and uses the rainbow as a bridge between the two worlds.
Oxumare is in the circle of life.
He represents the stability of nature, which remains the same though through transformation.
