Candomblé is both a culture and a religion. One turns to the priest of the candomblé (Father of Saint, Mother of Saint), regardless of being part of religion, to receive spiritual guidance. Normally, those who turn to a priest have as goal that of solving some contingent problem, be it material or sentimental. The priest may point out a certain path and suggest for certain rituals to be performed (for example giving offers to the orixás). These rituals are not magical tho. The rituals of the candomblé are a way to act on the energies and are always harmonic with nature.
